Dr. Fildes is a Filipino-American nurse leader who demonstrates passion and sustained commitment to improving health outcomes of persons in the US and Philippines who suffer from tobacco use and addiction in all its forms. She has used her unique, systematic approach to mobilize nurses to provide education and therapeutic interventions to improve population health in direct support of the World Health Organization Framework Convention of Tobacco control, established to combat the global tobacco epidemic. She has applied solutions cross-culturally to make a significant impact on clinical services and educational curricula in two countries.

Ms. Leon-Gamboa is a health care quality practitioner who started her nursing career of 31 years as a rehabilitation nurse, medical surgical nurse, case manager, and clinical nurse educator in the Philippines, California, and Nevada facilities. Using her experience, she evolved into the health insurance industry landing quality and compliance roles in managed care. She is currently a Senior Clinical Quality Review Nurse at Optum Medical Network of Nevada Medical Management. Equipped with her passion and fortitude, she strives to advocate for the mental health and welfare of Nevada Nurses through the self-care, MindBodyStrong classes as a facilitator, and PNANV’s Mentorship Program as a mentor.
