Fil-Am Research (FAR) Hub

Welcome to the Filipino American Research (FAR) Hub Project!

The Filipino American Research (FAR) Hub project will expand the “Mag-PCOR Muna Tayo” network through the establishment of Filipino American Patient-Centered Outcomes Research (FAPCOR) “Nayon,” educate Filipinos on research participation, and create an online infrastructure to connect Filipinos with researchers. The goal is to have a nationwide cadre of Filipino Americans better equipped to participate and engage in meaningful research activities as full partners of these endeavors.

The proposed project aims and goals are to:

  1. Expand the FA-PCOR “Nayon” network by leveraging the collaborative Philippine Nurses Association of America (PNAA) chapter infrastructure.
  2. Create a Stakeholder Advisory Council (SAC) for each new FA-PCOR network.
  3. Develop the culturally and linguistically appropriate FA Research Engagement Supplemental (FARES) curriculum.
  4. Deploy the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Fundamentals and FARES curricula.
  5. Develop the online research infrastructure, FAR (Filipino American Research) Hub, to connect clinicians and researchers to the Filipino community.
  6. Create a nationwide community of Filipino Americans who are willing and vested in research participation.

The long-term objective of FAR Hub is to create a sustainable infrastructure where research-informed Filipinos can participate in PCOR and CER initiatives to improve healthcare outcomes. The sustainable platform will encourage the active, meaningful involvement of Filipino American patients, caregivers, clinicians, and other healthcare stakeholders as integral members of the PCOR and CER enterprise.
